Asafa Powell lowered his world record mark of 9.77s in the 100m sprint to a scorching 9.74s. Running in the heats of the 100m in the Grand Prix in Rieti, Italy, Asafa left his competition in the dust to shave three hundredth of a second off the previous record. He even appeared to ease up in the final 20 meters.
Congrats!

Yeah, What a race….He needs to work on his mental state though, as an althelte he needs to knwo how to run from ahead, behind and with the pack…Hoping that will will come through for the Olympics

he seems to be amazing in the open but still questionable when challengers emerge. I like the fact that he not only eased up but didnt look like he was going flat out some of the race. what do you think is the lowest he can go 9.70 looks possible what about 9.67?

he seems to think he can do 9.68… usually when runners call out a specific time like that it means they have done it in practice before.
